Decal Care

Make your Mark with decals

Let’s talk about why you you'll want a decal:

- low cost of materials
- no-fuss installation
- long-lasting, brilliant color no matter the placement
- affordable as a pride-mark or giveaway
- works on virtually any surface

Your mark is custom-built for YOU

We’ll make the size whatever you tell us. If the destination surface size is larger than the available material, we’ll tile your mark into multiple pieces and allow for a ¼” seam overlap.

YES, you can order just one.

Best of all, this pressure-sensitive “sticker” material is printed by the professionals at Dprint, so you don’t have to worry if your mark will last. You choose the durability appropriate for the application purpose (indoor? outdoor? removable? positionable? permanent?) and price point.

With care (see “caring for your mark”), you can expect color brilliance for up to 3 years. UV-resistant laminating will add 2 years to the mark’s life.

Installing your mark

Dry application for a decal less than 50 square inches:

Clean the destination surface with window cleaner or denatured alcohol. For perfect alignment, use a small piece of masking tape to hold the top edge of the decal in place on the destination surface. Feeling brave? The tape isn’t necessary if you have a good eye.

If the paper liner on the back of the decal has a split, peel the bottom half first. Squeegee horizontally with firm pressure all the way to the bottom, taking care to push air completely out toward the edges. Remove your positioning tape and the remainder of the liner. Squeegee horizontally with firm pressure from the middle and upward to the top of the decal.

Dry application for a decal larger than 50 square inches:

Clean the destination surface with window cleaner or denatured alcohol. For perfect alignment, run a strip of masking tape horizontally along the middle of the piece you are applying.

Peel the decal away from its paper liner all the way down to the masking tape hinge. Cut away the liner. Begin at the hinge line, making overlapping horizontal strokes with a squeegee all the way up to the top of the decal. Remove the masking tape hinge. Hold the decal at about 45 degrees from the destination surface while you remove the remaining liner.

Start at the hinge line again, making overlapping horizontal strokes all the way down to the bottom of the decal.

Wet application for decals larger than 50 square inches:

Clean the destination surface with window cleaner or denatured alcohol. Using a NON-AMMONIA glass cleaner, spritz the destination surface.

Peel the decal completely away from its paper liner. Starting at the top, make overlapping horizontal strokes with a squeegee all the way up to the bottom of the decal. Repetitively stroke horizontally to make sure all the moisture is pushed out to the edges. Let dry for a minimum of 24 hours.

Multiple piece application:

Clean the destination surface with window cleaner or denatured alcohol. If you are applying your mark in several pieces, lay them all out and see how they fit together and also as a whole in the destination space (remember to allow for ¼” overlap of the seams if you have multiple pieces). Tape each piece in place, one at a time. Run a strip of masking tape horizontally along the middle of the piece you are applying.

Peel the material away from its paper liner all the way down to the masking tape hinge. Cut away the liner. Begin at the hinge line, making overlapping horizontal strokes with a squeegee all the way up to the top of the piece. Remove the masking tape hinge and begin peeling the liner paper from the hinge line. Just peel it down about 12”, letting it rest against the destination surface. This makes the downward application much easier!

Start at the hinge line again, making overlapping horizontal strokes all the way down to the peeled liner, then peel another 12” and keep applying until you reach the bottom of the piece.

Congratulations! You’re a pro! If you experience any problems at all, just call the professionals at DPRINT.

Caring for your mark

Clean your mark with soapy water and wipe it dry with a clean, soft cloth. That’s as easy as it gets.

Removing your mark

When you’re ready for something new, it’s easy to remove the old mark. Gently peel from a top corner, peeling the mark away from the surface at 180 degrees. You can remove any residue with GooGone or mineral spirits. Spritz the surface residue, wipe up the excess with paper towels, then re-apply the solvent if necessary. Use a straight-edge razor blade, putty knife or paint scraper to scrape away the remaining residue. Clean with glass cleaner or denatured alcohol to finish.
